Of the 1523 people who tragically lost their lives that night, 549 came from Southampton.

Southampton commemorates the anniversary of the sinking of Titanic each year with a series of events held across the city.

There is a full programme of events being held during April 2009 and beyond leading up to the 100th anniversary in 2012.

The Southampton Tourist Information Centre will be open during the Titanic Commemorative weekend. It will offer information on the programme of events, advice on accommodation, and the opportunity to buy Titanic books and souvenirs.
