Expedition Titanic Has begun!

August 13 2010

RMS Titanic, Inc. has conducted seven research and recovery expeditions to the wreck of Titanic since its discovery in 1985. Their stated mission is to preserve the Titanic legacy for all time, for all people.
According to the group, Expedition Titanic is different from other missions to Titanic. It’s a mission of firsts. They’re going to gather acoustic and optical imagery of Titanic that has never been collected before. They’re going to capture the bow and stern in 3DHD video. They’re going to create the first ever archeological site map of the wreck site…

It’s going to be an interesting few weeks! Diving 2.5 miles beneath the ocean surface is an extraordinary feat. It took 73 years of technological advancements and searching before the Titanic was discovered resting on the ocean floor of the North Atlantic in 1985. Remote Operated Vehicles (ROVs) will document the most famous sections of Titanic—in 3DHD. These vehicles will be used to acquire all digital data around the bow and stern sections bringing these notable portions of Titanic to life for all to explore. We very much look forward to folllowing this story as it unfolds.  The website is an incredible resource of information and a totally unique user experience.  Make sure and follow their progress and maybe even become a fan on facebook at http://www.facebook.com/rmstitanicinc - we are!
